The African Australian Heart Health Initiative (AAHHI) Proudly Presents Inaugural Medical Scientific Symposium
Adelaide, South Australia—The African Australian Heart Health Initiative (AAHHI) is thrilled to announce the organization of its inaugural medical scientific symposium, “The Cardiovascular and General Health Profile of Australians of African Descent, Especially of the Sub-Saharan Region.” This groundbreaking seminar will occur at the prestigious Adelaide Convention Centre on Saturday, July 27, 2024.
We are delighted to announce that the Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners has granted approval and accreditation for this event in the following four domains of education:

  1. Applied professional knowledge, skills, behaviours, and attitudes.
  2. Cultural safety for all; patient-clinician relationship, workforce, and community.
  3. Ethics, safety, advocacy, and professional compliance.
  4. Addressing Health Inequities.
    Professor Jaymie Bennetts, Head of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Unit at Victoria University Melbourne, and Doctor Richard Hillock, Cardiologist and Chairman of SA Heart Adelaide, will co-chair the symposium.
    We are privileged to have Distinguished Professor Vasso Apostolopoulos from Victoria University Melbourne as our special guest speaker. Additionally, A/Prof Scott Clark, the Head of Psychiatry discipline at the University of Adelaide, will present on the Impact of Mental Health on Cardiovascular Health. The distinguished lineup of speakers, each a leader in their respective fields, also includes A/Prof Anand Ganesan, Head of Electrophysiology at Flinders Medical Centre, Dr Jude Chapman-Wardy, Head of O&G at Modbury Hospital, Dr Rodney Mbizvo, Cardiologist at RAH, Dr Chaung Lee, Nephrologist at RAH, Sara Slayman, Exercise Physiologist, Kathleen Van Eyk, Dietitian, and Dr. Wilson Vallat, Neurologist.
